A woman was in critical condition after being struck by a police vehicle at a park Tuesday afternoon in the city’s Kensington section.

The accident happened about 4:25 p.m., while two officers in a marked cruiser were conducting an investigation in McPherson Square at F and East Clearfield Streets, police said.

The officer behind wheel put the police vehicle in reverse along a trash-strewn pathway inside the park and hit the woman, police said.

The officers picked up the woman, said to be in her 30s, and transported her to a hospital, police said.

6ABC showed a bystander’s phone video of the officers carrying the woman, who appeared to be unconscious, to the backseat of their patrol car.

The incident is being investigated by the Accident Investigation Division, police said.

This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
