Philadelphia police are searching for a group of juveniles who pummeled two men in Center City and stole their cell phones shortly after July 4th festivities concluded downtown.

Surveillance video released by police Thursday shows five boys who are part of a larger group of teens punching, stomping and beating the victims, who are just out of view of the camera. After the beating, which took only seconds, the video shows a teen girl reaching down and stealing something from the pocket of one of the victims.

Police said the victims, ages 18 and 23, were walking on the 1100 block of Filbert Street around 12:35 a.m. Wednesday when they were approached by the juveniles, who repeatedly punched them in their faces. Following the assault, the teens stole both men’s cell phones and then ran away.

The victims were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where the 18-year-old was treated for a broken nose and cuts and the older man was treated for cuts and swelling to his eye, police said.

Anyone who is able to identify the juveniles is urged to contact the department’s tip line at 215-686-8477 or text a tip to police at 773847.
