PHILADELPHIA, PA – APRIL 3, 2017 – Philadelphia 76ers forward Dario Saric was named the Kia NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in March, the NBA announced today. Saric has won the award in back-to-back months, and he leads all qualified rookies in scoring.

Saric is the second Sixers player to win the award multiple times this season, joining center Joel Embiid (October/November, December and January). It’s the first time a team has had two different players win the award multiple times in the same season.

Saric averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes per game in 17 March contests. He scored in double figures in 15 out of 17 games, including seven games with 20-plus points. No other rookie had more than three 20-point games during the month.

From February 6-March 24, the Croatian native scored in double figures in 22 consecutive games. He is the third Sixers rookie ever with a double-figure scoring streak of 22 or more games, joining Clarence Weatherspoon (41-game streak in 1992-93) and Allen Iverson (32-game streak and 26-game streak in 1996-97).

In that stretch, Saric posted a career-high 32 points in a win over the Chicago Bulls on March 24, shooting 12-of-19 from the field and 6-for-8 from the charity stripe. He is one of five rookies this season with a 30-point game, joining Embiid (twice), Dallas’ Yogi Ferrell, Sacramento’s Skal Labissiere and Phoenix’s Tyler Ulis.

The first-year forward finished the month with 312 points scored and 119 rebounds. He was one of eight players to have 300-plus points and 115-plus rebounds. The others to do so were New Orleans’ Anthony Davis, Minnesota’s Karl Anthony Towns, Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook, Cleveland’s LeBron James, Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo and Clippers’ Blake Griffin.

Saric leads all rookies with 50 double-figure scoring games, and is the only rookie averaging at least 11 points per game this season. He leads all qualified rookies in scoring and is second in rebounds per game.

Saric is the fourth Sixers player to be named Rookie of the Month multiple times and the fifth Sixers player to win it since the award’s inception in 1981-82. He joins Embiid (three times in 2016-17), Michael Carter-Williams (four times in 2013-14), Allen Iverson (twice in 1996-97) and Jerry Stackhouse (once in 1995-96).
