A 27-year-old pregnant woman was shot in the shoulder by her husband in an apparent accident Wednesday night in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

Just before 9 p.m., police were called to the 3300 block of Primrose Road where they found the woman in a second-floor apartment with a bullet wound in her left shoulder, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. She was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus where she was listed in stable condition.

The woman told police she was in her bedroom with her 26-year-old husband who was handling a semiautomatic handgun when it accidentally discharged, Small said. Their 4-year-old son was in another room and was not hurt.

The husband, who remained on the scene, was being questioned by detectives, but there was no preliminary evidence of an argument or fight, Small said.
