A 36-year-old Montgomery County man is accused of breaking into his estranged wife’s home, hiding in a closet, then pouncing on her and her boyfriend, police said Wednesday.

Police said that on Monday, Jason Beck broke into the home on Farview Avenue in Hatfield, when no one was there, then hid in a closet in the master bedroom.

Beck remained hiding in the closet until his estranged wife and her boyfriend came home, then later went to bed, police said. He then emerged from the closet, splashed the victims with pepper spray, beat the boyfriend with a baseball bat and stabbed him, Hatfield Township police said. He also assaulted his wife before running away from the home, police said.

Officers who responded to the home at about 11:20 p.m. found Beck outside. He told officers he was surrendering and that he was the guy they wanted, police said.

The two victims were treated at Abington-Lansdale Hospital for their injuries. Police said there were three children in the home at the time, but they were not harmed.

Beck, of the 900 block of West Marshall Street in Norristown, had a stay-away order prohibiting him from being at the home or having contact with the family, police said.

He is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime and related offenses, and is in custody in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.
