Patrons who paid to stay at one of the New Jersey state parks during the government shutdown will receive a refund.

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, anyone who experienced an interruption of their camping overnight stay at one of the parks will receive a refund beginning Monday. It will take a few weeks to process credit card reservations.

If the reservations were done via cash or check, it is encouraged to reach out to the appropriate park office.

State parks were shut down along with other nonessential state services, including state courts and the motor vehicle offices where people go to get driver’s licenses. Tens of thousands of state workers were furloughed until Christie signed off on a state budget.
