New Jersey airman struck, killed by New York City subway train

An airman assigned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst died Sunday after he was struck by a New York City subway train, the Air Force said Monday.


His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The New York Daily News reported that a man was killed about 4:40 a.m. at the Union Square stop. After the emergency brakes were triggered on an uptown Q train, the motorman go out to inspect the tracks and discovered the victim under the train.





The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not suspect the incident was criminal in nature, the Daily News said.
