There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the Memorial Day weekend in Philadelphia and at the Shore, but the holiday should not be a complete washout.

The timing of the rain, however, could make for a wet early getaway for anyone planning on driving Friday afternoon.

For the rest of the long weekend, the forecast calls for cloud cover in the mornings, with a chance of showers or thunderstorms increasing in the P.M. hours.

Highs will be in low to mid 70s in Philadelphia and the mid 60s to low 70s at the Shore.

There is a chance of rip currents Friday afternoon for anyone daring enough to brave the chilly waters at the Shore. There’s also a small craft advisory until 6 p.m. for winds gusting up to 20 knots and waves of four to six feet, according to the National Weather Service.
