Police on Tuesday were looking for a 26-year-old man they said punched a Philadelphia cop in a Bensalem parking lot Saturday before making off with stolen power tools.

Authorities said Joseph DiPerso walked into the Home Depot on Bristol Pike near Woodhaven Road and picked up a table saw and two impact drill “combo kits.” He then sprinted out the front door without paying.

As he crossed the parking lot, he was confronted by an off-duty Philadelphia police officer, police said.

DiPerso punched the officer, and then jumped onto the hood of his getaway car, a blue Honda Accord, police said. The sedan pealed out of the parking lot with DiPerso on the hood. He was still at-large Tuesday.

Police used video footage to identify DiPerso, who in 2012 was arrested in connection with robbery and assault in Bensalem.

Anyone with information was asked to call Bensalem police at (215) 633-3719.
