A man was killed and a teenager was critically wounded in separate shootings in Philadelphia overnight.

In the deadly shooting, officers were called to a house on the unit block of East Penn Street in East Germantown’s Wister area shortly after midnight.

A 22-year-old man had been shot to death in a third-floor bedroom, Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters.

Witnesses identified a 28-year-old man as the shooter, Small said. The suspect tried to flee but was apprehended by police.

Further details about the victim and suspect weren’t immediately available.

The killing was the second fatal shooting in the neighborhood in less than 12 hours. Another man died after he was shot at least three times Sunday afternoon on the 5700 block of McMahon Street, about a mile away from the overnight slaying.

In another separate shooting, a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot once in his left eye in Southwest Philadelphia.

The shooting happened just before 7:15 a.m. Monday inside a building on the 5300 block of Lindbergh Boulevard.

The teenager was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition. Further information about the circumstances of the shooting wasn’t available.
