If Kendrick’s hamstring needs more time to heal, it will be interesting to see how it affects his value as the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline approaches. Kendrick is hitting .349 with eight doubles, one triple, two home runs, 14 RBIs and an .879 OPS in 139 plate appearances.

“If I wanted a professional hitter, I sure wouldn’t have any pause,” Phillies president Andy MacPhail said, when asked if he would have any concerns about acquiring Kendrick.

Here are updates on three other Phillies on the DL:

• Right-hander Vince Velasquez made a rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He figures to make two more rehab starts before rejoining the Phillies’ rotation sometime after the All-Star break.

• Right-hander Jerad Eickhoff is scheduled to make a rehab start Tuesday. He could rejoin the rotation after that.

• Second baseman Cesar Hernandez is recovering well from a strained left oblique. He is about three weeks into a recovery estimated to take six weeks.
