A “Trump impeachment rally” Sunday morning at Independence Mall was attended by almost as many police officers as the 150 anti-Trump demonstrators who turned out.

And a potential clash with a much smaller band of pro-Trump demonstrators, about 15-20 people dressed all in black was apparently headed off by police.

The Trump supporters assembled for a counter protest at Front and Chestnut but were warned off by officers on Walnut Street. By noon, no incidents had been reported.

The impeachment rally and march were part of a nationwide demonstration in dozens of cities to urge Congress to remove Trump from office.

“NO! Drive out Trump/Pence fascist regime,” was lettered on one large black sign promoting RefuseFascism.org.
