A teenage girl was struck by a train on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line on Tuesday morning.

The 17-year-old victim was hit by a northbound subway train near the Ellsworth-Federal Station at about 6:35 a.m., according to police and SEPTA.

She became pinned underneath the train. Emergency crews freed the girl and took her to Jefferson University Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The train’s conductor saw the girl lean over the platform and fall onto the tracks. Further information about what happened wasn’t known.

Broad Street Line trains were temporarily bypassing the Ellsworth-Federal Station and single-tracking while emergency crews responded to the scene, but normal service was resuming by about 9 a.m., SEPTA said.
