A 56-year-old man died Thursday morning after his vehicle was struck by another car that ran a red light, police said.
The crash happened about 6:15 a.m. near Philadelphia’s border with Montgomery County.
The man was driving east on Washington Lane when a vehicle heading south on Cheltenham Avenue ran a red light and hit his vehicle, Philadelphia police said.
The victim was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:51 a.m. His name was not released.
The driver of the striking vehicle was also taken to Einstein as a precaution, police said.
Officials did not identify that driver. No charges were immediately announced.
Police closed traffic on both roadways for the investigation.
