Police evacuated several houses in North Philadelphia Sunday afternoon after a container that smelled of gasoline was found in the road with a rocket-like item placed on top of it.
Around 4 p.m. authorities responded to the 2000 block of West York Street and found a large container that smelled of gas with “an item that looks like a rocket that is on top of the container,” police said in a news release.
The police department’s Bomb Squad and the fire department responded. Several buildings were evacuated as a precaution, authorities said.
