Classes are canceled Wednesday at a Catholic school in Havertown because the building needs repairs after it was struck by lightning Tuesday.
Cardinal John Foley Regional Catholic School is closed so contractors can assess the damage, school administrators wrote in a letter to parents.
The school’s Saint Denis building was hit by lightning Tuesday morning, causing damage to the exterior and the fire alarm and telephone systems, the school said.
Initial assessments indicated that the fire and telephone systems will need to be replaced.
Students were evacuated after the lightning strike and then dismissed early Tuesday. Fire officials said no one was injured.
