The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office  is investigating a fatal fire that killed one person in a Towamencin Township home the night before.

A spokeswoman for the office said Saturday it was too early, though, to say if the fire was caused by arson, adding that the investigation could take “some time.”

Firefighters were called to the home on the 700 block of Abbey Lane in Towamencin Township just after 6:40 p.m. Friday. A person was transported to Abington-Lansdale Hospital and was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not been released.

An officer who answered the phone at the Towamencin Township Police Department on Saturday said no one would be available during the weekend to comment. Fire officials and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office did not immediately return phone calls.
