Philadelphia placed Buchholz on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Saturday, and recalled right-hander Zach Eflin from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place.

Buchholz was pulled from his start April 11 vs. the Mets after attempting to pitch through pain in his pitching arm.

The 32-year-old, who missed the final 2 1/2 months of 2015 with a similar injury, made just two starts for Philadelphia. He went 0-1 while allowing 10 earned runs in 7 1/3 innings.

Eflin, who went 3-5 with a 5.54 ERA in 11 starts for the Phillies in 2016, is scheduled to start Tuesday night’s game against the Mets.
