A 14-year-old boy died on Saturday after the ATV he was driving in Southampton Township collided with an ATV driven by another teen, according to New Jersey State Police.

Nicholas Cunningham, of Southampton, was driving a Yamaha Rhino ATV with a 14-year-old male passenger on the back when he lost control of the vehicle at West Patty Bowker and Friendship Roads and hit a Kawasaki Prairie ATV driven by another 14-year-old boy, police said.

Both Cunningham and his passenger were ejected from the ATV. Cunningham, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on scene, according to police.

The other two teens, who were also not wearing helmets, escaped the crash with non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden for treatment, state police said.

The cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
