A 17-year-old boy was shot in North Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon and a potential suspect was barricaded in an apartment nearby after fleeing the scene, according to police.
SWAT officers were called to the apartment building on the 2100 block of N. 17th Street after the suspect holed up inside, around 4:22 p.m., police said. The suspect ran to the apartment after the victim, who was not identified, was shot once in the hip around 3:55 p.m. on 17th Street near Susquehanna Avenue, police said.
The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital and was listed in critical condition, police said.
Authorities did not provide identifying details about the suspect, but said the barricade was still in progress at 5 p.m.
